Tempe Goreng - Prawns, Tempeh & Snake Beans

Tempe Goreng - I’m pulling out all stops guys. THIS is beautiful stir fry of tempe, tofu, prawns and snake beans all pulled together by a spicy rempah and tamarind.

As a child, I would eat everything and leave the tempe. How times have changed, today I would wipe a plate of this clean. 

Ingredients:

  • 125g tempeh, cut into small cubes

  • 150g tao kwa, cut into small cubes

  • 8-10 medium prawns, peeled, cut into small pieces

  • 1 medium onion, peeled, finely chopped

  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped

  • 1 lemongrass, white part only, finely sliced

  • 3 large green chillies, finely sliced

  • 3 small red chillies, finely sliced

  • 6 large dried hot chillies, rehydrated in water, pounded

  • 1 tbsp tamarind pulp, soaked in 120ml water, sieved

  • 1-2 tsp sugar and salt

  • Oil
